Chocolats Halba is a pioneer in the area of sustainability in the chocolate sector. Over the past few years it has established direct cocoa supply chains, and today almost all cocoa beans are purchased at the source from Fairtrade cooperatives. Reforestation projects have also been started with cocoa farming cooperatives in Honduras, Peru and Ghana. A subsidiary company was founded in Honduras in 2013. Chocolats Halba has now received several awards in recognition of its wide-ranging commitment to sustainability.
The first sustainability report from Chocolats Halba 'Added value through sustainability' earned international recognition from the expert jury at this year's Corporate Register Reporting Awards. It is one of ten sustainability reports contending for the title of best first report in the public vote which runs until the 14th of February.
Swiss Confisa, a brand of Chocolats Halba, is a test winner for milk chocolate with pieces of hazelnut. In an independent test by well-known German consumer organization Stiftung Warentest, organic Fairtrade "Lait Noisettes" won over the jury with its very good sensory characteristics. This result underscores Chocolats Halba's competence as a manufacturer of sustainable Swiss premium chocolate.
