On Saturday, 29 February 2020, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Simonetta Sommaruga, visited Chocolats Halba in Pratteln. The programme included a tour at the chocolate production facility. Although looking serious while on the tour, the President of Ghana relaxed after tasting the Chocolats Halba chocolate. He pronounced his positive opinion with a smile: "Very good! From the best cacao to the best chocolate."
He also acquired information about Chocolats Halba’s Sankofa sustainability project, which is supported by additional partners such as Coop and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). This sustainability project in Ghana – the biggest cocoa supplier of Chocolats Halba – is the first in the world to combine reforestation of hardwood trees within mixed cocoa cultivation. This flagship project is certified to the Gold Standard – the most stringent standard for climate protection projects.
